Learn how to install a matte white windshield banner for a clean JDM look, plus styling tips to make your car stand out.

Quick answer

Install your matte white windshield banner in under 30 minutes with a clean, bubble-free finish using a simple wet application method and a squeegee.

Why choose a matte white banner?

A matte white windshield banner offers a subtle, classic look that pairs well with any car color. The matte background reduces glare and fingerprints, while gloss black lettering provides just enough contrast to be readable without screaming for attention.

At 55 inches wide, the banner spans most windshields comfortably. The lettering is sized at 21 inches wide, so it sits prominently above the driver's line of sight without blocking the view.

Installation steps

  1. Clean the windshield: Wash the inside and outside of the windshield with a glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Remove all dust, grease, and wax. Any residue will cause the vinyl to lift. Even a tiny speck of dirt can create a visible bubble under the banner.
  2. Dry-fit the banner: Hold the banner against the glass while still on its backing. Center it horizontally and position it about 1–2 inches below the top edge. Use painter's tape to mark the corners. Skip this step and you risk a crooked application that is nearly impossible to reposition once the adhesive touches the glass.
  3. Apply a wet solution: Fill a spray bottle with water and a drop of dish soap. Mist the windshield lightly. Peel the banner from the backing and spray the adhesive side as well. The soapy water lets you slide the banner into perfect alignment. Too much water will make the banner slip; too little will cause it to stick prematurely. A light even mist is all you need.
  4. Squeegee from the center out: Starting at the center of the banner, use a squeegee or a credit card wrapped in a soft cloth to push air and water toward the edges. Work in overlapping strokes. Do not press so hard that you stretch the vinyl. Stretching the vinyl creates wrinkles that will not shrink back as the adhesive cures.
  5. Let it cure: Leave the banner untouched for at least 24 hours. Avoid rolling down the windows, using the defroster, or washing the car during that time. The adhesive needs a full cure to bond properly. A premature car wash or hot defroster blast can lift the edges and ruin the seal.
