What you need to know before attaching
Season 1 Shift Knob Charms are designed to work with ACUITY's Shift Knob Charm Rings and Chains (sold separately). The charm itself does not include a ring or chain, so you will need one of those accessories to hang the charm from your shifter.
Make sure your shift knob has a ring or chain loop already installed, or purchase one from ACUITY. The charm attaches to that loop, not directly to the shift knob.
How to install a Season 1 Shift Knob Charm
- Choose your charm style: Browse the Season 1 collection and pick a charm that fits your personality or car theme. Remember that charms are sold individually, so you can buy one or several. If you want to swap charms often, consider buying multiple to have options ready.
- Attach a ring or chain to your shift knob: If your shift knob does not already have a ring or chain loop, install an ACUITY Shift Knob Charm Ring or Chain first. Follow the included instructions to secure it around the shift knob's neck. A common mistake is trying to attach the charm directly to the shift knob without a ring or chain. The charm needs a loop to hang from.
- Clip the charm onto the ring or chain: Open the charm's clasp (usually a small lobster claw or jump ring) and hook it onto the ring or chain loop. Close the clasp firmly so it does not come loose during driving. Check that the charm hangs freely and does not catch on your hand or the shift boot when you move the shifter.
- Test the shifter's full range of motion: With the charm attached, shift through all gears (including reverse) to make sure the charm does not interfere with the shifter's travel or get caught on the console. If the charm drags or snags, reposition it on the ring or choose a smaller charm style.
